David Myles (born May 12, 1981) is a Canadian songwriter / performer/ recording artist originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick. Myles lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 2008, he and Nina Corfu were married.His parents are Carmel and Jim Myles.
From Sydney, Australia to Sydney, Nova Scotia, multiple-award winner David Myles is bringing audiences to their feet with his spirited songs, flawless musicianship, and his warm and engaging stage show.
Myles released his debut solo recording, Together and Alone, in 2005. Before it was released, he relocated to Calgary, Alberta. He returned to the Maritimes in 2006, moving to Halifax. There he released his second solo recording, Things Have Changed, which exposed him to national and international audiences.
In May 2009, David was honoured with the Mount Allison University Contemporary Achievement Award from the University’s Alumni Association. It is presented to a recent graduate for “outstanding achievement”.
Already known for his versatility and ability to fuse styles, David’s fifth studio recording, Into the Sun, takes us on a exhilarating musical adventure that explores his long-time love of Brazilian and African music. A born collaborator, Into the Sun features David’s second a collaboration with Canadian hip-hop star, Classified. Their first collaboration went on to become a single from Classified’s latest record Handshakes & Middle Fingers. On the other end of the musical spectrum, David has just written and performed with international opera star Measha Brueggergosman for her upcoming release.
David’s surprising and intricate song writing has garnered him wins in the International Song writing Contest, song placements in film and television, and a place on CBC’s Great Canadian Songquest.
Increasingly in demand in theatres and at festivals, David’s unabashed joy at being on stage is infectious. His enthusiasm, along with his tendency to entertain audiences with his humorous anecdotes, wins him fans instantly.
