Four proposals have been offered for the development of a container terminal at the Sydport greenfield site. Consultants hired by the CBRM say that talks with the four prospective developers are still at the preliminary stage, and efforts to attract further interest will continue through a $150,000 dollar marketing campaign announced earlier this week. The CBRM bought the greenfield site from Laurentian Energy back in May. It’s hoped that the site’s potential for expansion and its access to a recently dredged harbour will eventually lead to the influx of large container traffic and provide a boost to the local economy.
