Terry Paul carried 60% of the vote after the polls closed in Membertou last night, winning his 15th consecutive term as Chief. Long-time band councillor Darrell Bernard took 40% of the vote, and will return to his council position along with 11 other councillors who were elected yesterday. Paul says he’ll be focusing on a number of priorities for Membertou, including the construction of 125 new homes, as well as a new school, along with the expansion of the community over to Highway 125, the creation of new corporate entities, and the completion of a new sports and wellness centre.
